We’d like to introduce you to all participants of Art Market Jakarta 7 that will be held on April 28-30, 2017 at Kuningan City, South Jakarta. One of them is PEER & KAMA, two accessories brands made by two friends. Read our Q&A below:
Catalyst Arts (CA): Tell us a little bit about your brand, and how you came to begin your brand.
PEER (P): Hi, I’m Vebri, the creator of PEER. I participated in a ceramic class last November as part of my hobby, but after that I began to have ideas to create a line of accessories. With the support of people around me, I managed to establish PEER.
KAMA (K): KAMA established in June 2016 by four friends (Felicia, Sarah, Clarissa, Dian) that finally gathered together in Jakarta to pursue their careers. We had lunch together and suddenly developed an idea to create KAMA. KAMA is taken from a sanskrit word, meaning love, passion, and desire.
CA: What kind of artworks or products that you prepare for Art Market Jakarta 7?
PEER & KAMA (PK): We will bring women accessories made from clay, such as earrings and ceramic items for PEER, while KAMA will bring handcrafted bracelets.
CA: Tell us about your favourite product from your collection!
P: Marble earring with white tassel. For me, white color is very versatile and suits all kind of clothing. Because the earring is made from air dried clay, it is lighter than ceramic and doesn’t break if it falls.
K: KAMA’s favourite product is Rimjhim, a bracelet with a meaning “the pitter-patter of light drizzle”. It is made of abstract gips stone. Rimjhim is our first collection that is not only the owners’ most favourite item but also the customers’.
CA: Name one resource that inspires your brand the most.
PK: We can find inspiration anywhere, but we are inspired by online reference and offline reference (from one bazaar to another). We image which accessories design that suits the now trending fashion items. We also get inspiration from people who support us because they give comments or compliments that make us want to create something more.
CA: What is your plan for your brand in the near future?
PK: We want to increase the public’s brand awareness towards PEER and KAMA. In a long term, we will develop other types of accessories, such as bracelet, necklace, and ring with unisex design. We hope our brands are useful for wide audience.
